Following are some of my current and recent interests that may not fit neatly elsewhere, with a special local focus:

Weight Waggers Plato dog logo, small
Weight Waggers — I founded the not-for-profit Weight Waggers to educate people about how dogs and people can work together to develop healthy habits that last a lifetime. Weight Waggers makes health happen at both ends of the leash. Do it for the dog and you! Weight Waggers promotes these steps in the right direction:

  • Sit less. Walk more.
  • Get out into the real world, not the digital world. Use your senses.
  • Meet face-to-face, not Facebook-to-Facebook. Dogs make it easier to meet and socialize.

Breastfeeding USA logoBreastfeeding USA — One of the most interesting new national organizations is Breastfeeding USA, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit founded in 2010. The group’s tagline is, “Empowering you with mother-to-mother support.” This is a great organization.

Local Chicago

Theatre BAM Chicago logoTheatre BAM Chicago — I am a big fan of Theatre BAM Chicago, a Chicago-based non-profit theatre company that makes learning for kids more interesting and memorable with fun and entertaining musical productions.

Slow Food Chicago logoSlow Food Chicago — I support Slow Food Chicago, an all-volunteer educational, non-profit organization. Slow Food is an idea, a way of living and a way of eating. It links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment. Slow Food Chicago is part of a growing movement that includes Slow Food USA and Slow Food International.
